Nine men representing three dioceses and one religious order were admitted to the body of candidates for Holy Orders today in a Mass at Saint Louis Cathedral. Admission to candidacy is the final step before a man petitions to be ordained to the diaconate and priesthood. In this rite, the candidate publicly declares that he intends to complete his studies and grow in prayer in preparation to be ordained.
