Interclass Volleyball Tournament

The Seminary community gathered for an afternoon full of heated competition late in the spring semester as an intramural volleyball tournament was held on the grounds of NDS. The competition was stiff as teams representing Pre-Theology/ESL, 1st Theology, 2nd Theology, 3rd Theology, and 4th Theology competed.

The 2nd Theologians had the early advantage as they advanced through the winner’s bracket to the championship match. The men from 1st Theology had to rebound from a loss early on but they managed to play their way to a rain-soaked championship match. 1st Theology lost the first game in the championship round, but they managed win two in a row after that to clinch the championship.

Rector/President Fr. Jim Wehner got involved in the competition as well. He joined 2nd Theology’s team, while many other faculty members and seminarians provided a great atmosphere as they cheered and jeered at the action on the court.

This volleyball tournament has turned into a tradition on campus. It has been held for the past three years and gives the men an opportunity to take a study break late in the semester.

The weather held out much of the day, but the heavens opened late in the afternoon and the final match was spirited, and wet! The day ended with an all-school social poolside.
