It has been a busy week! After a week of festivities within NDS to build up the hype for game day, on Thursday, Nov. 16, the seminary community gathered by the pool for dinner and a pep rally, including inspirational speaches by Fr. Wehner and Dc. Joey Lirette and a video with sports insights, predictions, smack talk, and inside jokes. The following day, NDS joined the St. Ben’s seminary community (also known as St. Joseph Seminary College) in Covington. After a Mass in the abbey church, the two seminaries competed in the celebrated annual flag football game. Though the St. Ben’s guys gave us a good fight, NDS came through with a touchdown in the last two minutes to secure a 13-7 victory, earning us a winning streak of 4 consecutive years. Finally, after evening prayer and dinner in the refectory, the two communities joined in Abbey Field for the burning of a 25 foot tall bonfire which the St. Ben’s seminarians had constructed over the past few months. We give thanks to God for the fraternity forged in these days and the priestly formation that is fostered in both seminaries.
