Brother Stephen W. Synan, Ph.D.

A native New Yorker, Br. Stephen was born and raised in Queens, NYC.  He attended High School in the Bronx at St. Helena High School where he met the Marist Brothers.  He attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY receiving a BA in History/Religious Studies.  He entered the Marist Brothers Novitiate in 1975 and received his First Vows in August of 1976.  He made his Final Profession in 1980. He then received an MA in Religious Studies from Providence College in Rhode Island.  Later he received both an MS and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland.
