T3 Oath of Fidelity

On Sunday, February 17, the T3 class took the Oath of Fidelity and Profession of Faith, which is required of all candidates for ordination by which they promise to preserve union with the pope and magisterium as well as the teachings of the Church. In essence, we are promising both orthodoxy and orthopraxis in exercising our ministry as deacons. This is an important part of the process for preparing for ordination, especially in light of recent events, because it is in preaching the faith of the Church and preserving unity within the Church that the Gospel is spread. As Father Wehner mentioned in his homily, the Beatitudes are extremely important. As soon-to-be deacons we should be mindful of being pure in heart and being peacemakers. In doing so, we will hopefully be able to live in the heart of Christ while doing his work on earth.
