Talent Show

On Saturday, April 17, the seminary community gathered in Schulte Auditorium for our annual Talent Show. Additionally, this is the evening where our some of our brothers share with the whole community foods from their respective cultures. Foods from Uganda, Vietnam, Mexico, and Poland. Once everyone had helped themselves to the dishes from around the globe, the evening’s MC, Joseph Martello (New Orleans), began the talent show and introduced the judges who were tasked with judging the talent acts. The judges’ booth was staffed by Fr. Philip Neri Powell, Director of Homiletics; Ms. Caroline Thriffiley, Director of Events and Communications; and Deacon Taylor Sanford (Seminarian for Baton Rouge). From acts of a comical sort to music and religious pieces, the stage in Schulte auditorium saw it all. The judges proclaimed winners in three different categories. Best Overall was Paul Oyie with an original song played on the piano. Best Group was Deacon Raney Johnson, Deacon David Baily, and the T4 Deacon Class with their performance of popular Nirvana song, Smells Like Teen Spirit. Best Individual was Jeff Merritt with his air guitar performance.
