Putting On The New Man, Vol. 4: Jeremy Lopez and Joseph Bresowar Profiles of New NDS Seminarians

By: Jason Songe, Seminarian, Archdiocese of New Orleans

Putting On The New Man is a series of the NDS Blog that will introduce the new faces you see in the seminary.

JEREMY LOPEZ

My name is Jeremy Lopez from the Diocese of Baton Rouge, and I am in 1st Theology. Two of my favorite saints are St. Thomas the Apostle and St. Francis Xavier. Two of my favorite movies are Memento and Shawshank Redemption. My favorite quote is from St. Vincent de Paul to his fellow priests, “Believe me, we will never be any use in doing God’s work until we become thoroughly convinced that, of ourselves, we are better fitted to ruin everything than to make a success of it.” I want to be a priest because my two years as a missionary with FOCUS fostered a great love for ministering and serving people, and I wish for God to be my everything. My favorite spiritual book is Soul of the Apostolate by Jean-Baptiste Chautard. Perhaps the most interesting thing that has happened to me is that I had the opportunity to spend the night in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem with only 20 other people. There, I was blessed to be able to spend 2 hours inside Jesus’ tomb in front of the rock His body was laid on. My vocation story in seven words: Jesus desires my heart; I desire His. My favorite hobbies are playing guitar, drawing, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and Spikeball.

JOSEPH BRESOWAR

My name is Joseph Bresowar. I’m from the diocese of Baton Rouge, and I’ll be entering 1st Theology. My favorite saints are St. Alphonsus Liguori and St. Maximilian Kolbe. My favorite movie is The Great Race. Acts 3:6 means a lot to me.  I want to be a priest because I want to get people to heaven. Two of my favorite spiritual books are Introduction to the Devout Life and Into Your Hands, Father. Being created in the image and likeness of God was pretty cool. That might be the most interesting thing that’s happened to me. Vocation story: I didn’t find my fulfillment anywhere else. I love making music and watching movies, and I’m a space geek.

Extras: Joseph owns a bowling ball.
