The Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) is an accredited graduate degree program in academic theology and research. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the Catholic Faith and explore the Catholic intellectual tradition. The program best exemplifies the traditional dictum fides quaerens intellectum, “faith seeking understanding.”

Whether your goal is to teach high school or to pursue doctoral studies in theology, this program’s core curriculum provides an excellent foundation in Sacred Scripture and Dogmatic and Moral Theology. Students will specialize in one of these three areas and must develop a competency in one of the following languages: Hebrew, Greek, or Latin. The MATS program culminates in the completion and defense of a thesis.
