Are you interested in a deep and rigorous exploration of Catholic theology? This degree program consists in a thorough core curriculum and the in-depth study of an area of specialization.
The Master of Arts in Theological Studies is a graduate degree program in academic theology and research. Students will be brought to a deeper understanding of the Catholic Faith and will explore the Catholic intellectual tradition. The program can best be described by the traditional dictum fides quaerens intellectum, “faith seeking understanding.” Whether the student’s goal is to teach high school or to pursue doctoral studies in theology, this program will provide an excellent foundation in Sacred Scripture, Dogmatic and Moral Theology in and through the core curriculum. Students will also have an area of specialization which provides for a thorough preparation in one of the three areas. Students will also need to develop a competency in one of the following languages: Hebrew, Greek or Latin. The program culminates in the completion and defense of a thesis.
