Commencement 2015

Notre Dame held its 66th Commencement Exercises on May 6, conferring thirty-three degrees and two completion certificates. The degrees included two honorary doctorates of letters, twelve masters of arts in theological studies, sixteen masters of divinity, and three bachelors of philosophy. The Wednesday evening ceremony marked the completion of studies at NDS for eighteen seminarians and eleven lay students.

This year marked a new milestone for NDS–the first class to graduate from the seminary’s new bachelor of philosophy program. Three seminarians from the pre-theology program received the baccalaureate degree and will begin the seminary’s graduate program in the fall.

The seminary awarded honorary doctorates of letters to Sr. Janet Claire Bodin, MSC, Ph.D., and Rev. Donald J. Martin, S.J., Ph.D. Each of them served in various capacities in the seminary’s formation program for many years. Following the conferring of all the degrees, a few heartfelt words of gratitude were delivered by lay graduate Jordan Haddad on behalf of the Masters of Arts and by Dcn. Matthew Graham on behalf of the Masters of Divinity. Archbishop Gregory Aymond of New Orleans, Chancellor of NDS, exhorted the graduates in his closing invocation.
