Many seminarians remained at NDS as Hurricane Ida made landfall on August 29th, 2021. Despite the lack of power, our seminary community never ceased to pray and receive the sacraments. The seminary buildings sustained minor damage during the storm. After the storm passed, many seminarians returned to their home dioceses, evacuated to different parishes, or went to other seminaries. A small group of seminarians stayed on campus to assist with campus clean up and began to provide relief outreach in places like Laplace and Houma. From now until Christmas break, the seminary community will continue to provide outreach throughout Southeast Louisiana. Please be assured of our prayers for all those impacted by Hurricane Ida at this time.
Donate to Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts
Notre Dame Seminary community is working to do our part to support the Hurricane Ida disaster relief efforts. As we all know, the aftermath and clean up from such a devastating storm can last for months. Once seminarians are able to return safely to NDS, we plan to spend weekends of the remainder of the semester providing pastoral care and distributing supplies to those in need.
As we prepare to provide a spiritual presence to those impacted by Hurricane Ida, we are seeking donations in order to purchase supplies such as water, ice, non-perishable food, tools, and various other items needed to assist in the clean-up and recovery efforts.
