Don’t forget to save the date for our Eucharist Lecture Series as we celebrate the Archdiocese of New Orleans’ Year of the Eucharist!

“I am the second oldest of seven children raised in the good Catholic South by a good Catholic family. I didn’t think of the priesthood until late high school when the question was posed to me, “If God asked me to be a priest, would I go?”. It wasn’t until after I had graduated college four years later that I thought seriously of that question again. By this time, my younger brother, Andrew, had just joined Seminary to discern his call. Through prayer, it just seemed like the time had arrived for me to go find out if God was indeed calling me to the priesthood as well. Each day, Jesus Christ draws me closer to Him, and I can only hope that one day I will do the same as a priest for his flock.”

We are always grateful when we get the chance to spend time with our alumni. These men came to join us at our Christmas Luncheon last year. Have you had the blessing of having one of our alumni at your home parish?

1.Favorite Saint and why?

This is an impossible question to answer, there are just too many! I’ll give two of the most impactful.

St. Therese of Lisuiex because she challenges me to not be so complicated but to remain childlike.

St. John Paul the Great because he’s helps me to understand what it means to be human and to thrive.

2.What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was little I wanted to first be a lawyer because I was really good at arguing. My parents weren’t as excited about that as I was. I then really wanted to be a counselor because I loved to talk with people about their problems and concerns.

3.Favorite thing about seminary?

The greatest thing about seminary is the opportunity to be surrounded by men who are striving at Christ’s own heart. It’s not always easy to constantly be chiseled by my brothers but it has definitely been what has helped me to grow the most.
#CommunityTuesdays Yesterday was a special day for #CommunityTuesdays
Yesterday was a special day for our community. We had the blessing of not only celebrating the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross but also the anniversary of the Episcopal Ordination of Archbishop Emeritus Alfred Hughes. Archbishop Hughes entered seminary on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and was ordained a bishop on the same Feast. Please join us in prayers of gratitude for his 39 years as a bishop.
